GLOBHE Ambassador Femi Adekoya

Greetings everyone! My name is Femi Adekoya, also known as the Flyingfarmer. I am excited to share with you my background in the drone industry and why I am thrilled to be a GLOBHE ambassador.

I have always been passionate about agriculture, with over ten years of experience in the agricultural sector. As a trained drone pilot, I have discovered that drones offer endless possibilities in the farming industry. I have more than three years of experience using drones as a tool to provide solutions in agriculture and other sectors. I have since been involved in various agricultural projects across Africa, utilizing drones for precision agriculture and other projects, including the inspection of a 50MW Solar farm in Togo, topographic drone surveys, and other mapping projects.

My expertise lies in precision agriculture, and I specialize in crop health monitoring, field scouting, disease, and weed detection, drone spraying and spreading, and mapping. I have found that drones are instrumental in agriculture because they provide a bird's eye view of crops, enabling farmers to detect early signs of crop diseases and pests or nutrient deficiency, leading to timely intervention and improved yields. Additionally, we can use drones for crop spraying, a more efficient and eco-friendly alternative to traditional methods.

Of all the use cases in precision agriculture, I am particularly passionate about using drone data (imagery) and data analytics (using machine learning algorithms) to make or gain valuable insights and intelligence for farmers. The ability to detect early signs of weeds, diseases, and pests or do stand count analysis can be the difference between a profitable harvest and a complete loss. Drones enable us to capture high-resolution images of crops, which can identify problems with crops before they become visible to the naked eye.
