Globhe partnering with UNCCD & FAO mapping Baobab trees of Africa’s great green wall

GLOBHE is partnering up with UNCCD to assist satellite data verification of baobab trees in Northern Ghana through drone imagery deployment.

The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, UNCCD, and Globhe share a common vision in the use of innovative technology to support instrumental changes towards sustainable social-economic environmental systems.

GLOBHE is a drone as a service company that provides earth observations by drones for a sustainable future. Crowddroning by GLOBHE sends drones globally through our crowd of local drone operators collecting high-resolution data, which helps businesses, organizations and researchers understand the world and take action.

The UNCCD and its partners leverage such data to better understand tree populations, notably on the Great Green Wall. The Great Green Wall is an African-led movement with an ambition to grow an 8,000km natural wonder across the entire width of Africa. The purpose of this ground-breaking project is to combine macro satellite data with high-resolution microdata from drones to accelerate the verification of tree species.
